The Awards Night for the MSC Malaysia Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA), organized by MDEC and PIKOM was held. This year marked the prestigious award's 10th Anniversary and set a new record with the number of nominees. Amongst the 383 finalists in the running for the 18 respective categories was KDU COLLEGE PENANG CAMPUS' "Omni Broadcasting Network (OBN)".
OBN was one of the seven finalists nominated under the Best of Tertiary Student Project (Creative Multimedia). The other six nominees were namely;

LIM KOK WING "Smog Busters"
LIM KOK WING "Totem Mania"
LIM KOK WING "24 Hours Film - Mobile Mentary"
MULTIMEDIA UNIVERSITY "Pestilence"
UNIVERSITI KUALA LUMPUR "Pesapera Malaysia at War"
Characters Upin and Ipin of the famed 'Upin & Ipin' cartoon by Les Copaque Productions made an appearance on stage to present the award for the above category. Lim Kok Wing's "Smog Busters" was announced the Winner and Universiti Kuala Lumpur's "Pesapera Malaysia at War" bagged the Merit Award.

Although advertised as the Guest of Honour, the Prime Minister of Malaysia was unable to grace the event as he was attending to matters in Cannes, France. Local celebrities such as Chef Wan, Hannah Tan and then some were however, present.
